Breast Lift

Breast Lift Surgery

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to restructure the shape of your breasts. A breast lift is done to improve breast shape, nipple placement and boost self-confidence. Pregnancy, weight fluctuations and gravity can all be factors that result in a loss of elasticity and firmness of your breasts. A breast lift won’t significantly change the size of your breasts but can be done in combination with a breast augmentation or reduction.

Is a Breast Lift for Me?

Patients would choose this procedure if they are bothered by:

  • Saggy breasts
  • Loss of original shape
  • Asymmetrical breasts
  • Nipples that point downwards

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

During this procedure, Dr Deon will use various techniques to remove excess skin and tighten surrounding tissue around the nipple, improving the breast contours. Stitches may be used deep within your breasts to reshape the breast tissue or areolae. At the end of the procedure, the incisions will be closed with stitches, surgical tape or skin adhesives. This procedure typically takes 2 – 3 hours, and patients should be able to go home on the same day.

Healing and Recovery

After the procedure, your breasts will be covered with gauze and a surgical support bra. Small tubes may be placed at the incision sites in your breasts to drain any excess blood or fluid. The majority of swelling and bruising will reach its maximum and then start to subside. Swelling can last up to 2 weeks post-procedure, however for full results, this could take up to 6 to 12 months.
