Facelift Surgery By Dr Deon Weyers In South Africa
The aim of this procedure is to make you look “good for your age” by repositioning the facial skin through various techniques. The success of the procedure is dependent on your own facial structure and the condition of the skin.
Is Facelift Surgery for Me?
This surgery might be suitable for those bothered by:
- Sagging in the mid-face
- Deep creases below the lower eyelids
- Deep creases running from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- ‘Jowls’, or skin sagging below the jawline
How is a Facelift Performed?
This surgical treatment involves strategically pulling back the muscles and connective tissue in the neck and face to create a lifted and more youthful appearance. The procedure makes use of varying techniques depending on the desired outcome, but usually, the incision is made in the natural contour just in front of the ear, and then extends around the earlobe and back into the hairline. While scars may be visible during recovery, this will fade to hardly noticeable scarring as the face heals so well. These incisions allow for the skin to be lifted from the face, and are then pulled and anchored into position.
Healing And Recovery?
Recovery varies from patient to patient. Swelling peaks at around 3 days after surgery, numbness, swelling and discoloration are likely to occur in the first 2 weeks post-surgery. Full recovery can be expected 6 weeks post-surgery.
